Obituary of Paul M Bortner

Paul M Bortner, Jr, age 76, of Greentown died Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Geisinger-Community Medical Center in Scranton.

 

Mr. Bortner was born April 25, 1941 in York, PA and was the son of the late Paul Marion and Alice Elizabeth (Schroll) Bortner.

 

Paul was a graphic artist for The Pocono Press and retired in 2003. His greatest pleasures were spending time with his family, nature photography, and serving the Church. He was a member, Deacon and active volunteer at First Presbyterian Church in Hawley, serving as the co-director of Good News Cafe. In the past Paul served as the director of the Food Pantry at the Paupack United Methodist Church, was President of the JayCees in York County and served in the Marine Corps.

 

He is survived by his wife of 40 years: Susan Linda (Pekurney) Bortner; one daughter & son-in-law, Suzanne & Chris Thomas of Telford, PA; one son & daughter-in-law, Marty & Mary Bortner of Dallastown, PA; one sister, Audrey Brant of CA; Paul was also blessed with grandchildren and a great grandson.

 

Calling hours will be Wednesday, June 7th from 2 to 2:30 PM at First Presbyterian Church Of Hawley, 815 Church St, Hawley, PA, followed by the funeral service at 2:30, with Rev. William Samford, Pastor officiating.

 

Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Paupack.
