Obituary of Sally Mae Spencer

Sally Mae Spencer, age 96, of Hidden Lake Estates, Hawley, died Thursday, June 15, 2017, at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Spencer.

Born May 12, 1921, in Chunchula, AL, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Mazzie (Williams) Benson. A homemaker, she was also a fantastic cook and fine hairdresser. Formerly of Pittsburgh, she had been a Hawley resident for a year.

She is survived by two daughters: Janey Perry and her husband Vernon of Hawley and Brenda Lamb of Morgantown, WV; one sister: Hattie Benson; and her grandchildren: Doris, David, Demetrius, Makeba, Courtney, Delner, Terry, and Artgwen.

She was predeceased by two children, Doris and John, and two grandchildren, Donald and Veeda Mae.

Visitation will be held at West Funeral Home, 2215 Wylie Ave., Pittsburgh, PA, on Tuesday, June 20, from 2 to 8 PM.  Funeral service will be Wednesday, June 21, at 11 AM at the chapel.  Interment will be at Allegheny Cemetery.
