Donald Robert "Dutch" Seeley, Sr., age 88, of Tafton died Monday, July 10, 2017, at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Bertha Lena (Reser) Seeley. Born September 28, 1928, in Tafton, he was the son of the late Claude D. and Josephine (Bea) Seeley. He served in the Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. He later served with the National Guard #109 Infantry. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a back hoe operator and truck driver for Gumble Bros. Lumber in Paupack. He also owned and operated Seeley's Landing, the oldest business on Lake Wallenpaupack. Dutch was the last remaining Charter Member of Tafton Volunteer Fire Co. and its first member, holding Badge #1. A quiet man, he always put his family first, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, to whom he was their beloved Pop Pop. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: LuAnn Newcomer of Paupack and Sandra Riddle of Charlotte, TN; one son: Donald Seeley Jr. and his wife Mary of Tafton; his grandchildren: Brittany and Justin Seeley, Amy Beilman and her husband Scott, Stephanie Schuman and her husband Kyle, Donald Colt Riddle and his wife Morgan, and John Riddle; four great granddaughters: Eleanor, Grace, Hailey and Oaklyn; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Claude Seeley Jr., and a sister, Beulah Kretchik. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Cremation was held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel. Private inurnment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Paupack. The Seeley family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the Tafton Volunteer Ambulance and EMTs, Dr. Aronica and the staff at Wayne Memorial and its Heart and Vascular Center.
