Obituary of David A. Sherman

David A. Sherman, age 70, of Tafton died following an illness Saturday, July 15, 2017, at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dorothy A. (Dentato) Sherman.
Born June 6, 1947, in Mt. Kisco, NY, he was the son of the late John Alvin and Helen Theresa (Munson) Sherman. Prior to his retirement in 1994, he was a telecommunications specialist for IBM.
A Tafton resident for over a year, he had formerly resided in Shohola. A member of Wallenpaupack Free Methodist Church, he and his wife also went to the Hawley Senior Center. The center of David's life was his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter: Dorothy Tighe and her husband Gary; two sons: David Allen Sherman Jr. and his wife Melissa of Dunmore, and Christopher John Sherman and his wife Laurie of Tafton; one brother: Joseph Thomas Sherman of New Jersey; and eight grandchildren: Sierra and Savanna Sherman; Hannah, Alexandra and Samuel Sherman; and Nicholas, Olivia and Joseph Tighe.
Visitation will be held at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St., Hawley, on Tuesday, July 18, from 11 AM to 2 PM and 5 to 7 PM. The funeral will follow at 7:00 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Ken Platt, Pastor of Wallenpaupack Free Methodist Church, officiating. Private cremation will be held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pike County Humane Society, 189 Lee Rd., Shohola, PA 18458 because Dave loved the company of animals.
