Dear Joan and all Joe's family and friends...
We are so sorry to hear about Joe. He was a wonderful human being. Quiet--mostly when it came to talking about himself. Kind and generous of spirit when it came to others, We were fortunate to spend about 20 years of our lives with Joe and of course you, Joan--as neighbors, as colleagues at the University, as members of the "Briarcliff Bums" softball team, as Little League coaches, as pretend golfers (at least in my case)... Some of my favorite time with Joe was when I was able to drive him home from the NYC office....bumper to bumper traffic for half the trip, which made for some nice time to share stories about intersections in our past--growing up, college in upstate NY, the "Little Three" and the competition between Joe's "Purple Eagles" and our "St. Bonnies". Thank you for sharing the beautiful video. You captured Joe and all that was important to him. Most of what you captured were your years in the Hawley area--evidence that both of you were able to be in a happy place with access to loving family and friends. Happy for you.
Our thoughts and prayers will always be with you. May time help to dim your sorrow and may the legacy of love Joe has left for each of you prompt memories of your many good moments with Joe.

Aunt Joan, Karen, Paul, Therese and family,
It was so sad to learn of uncle Joe’s passing. I received an email from my sister Jill late Friday evening As I was traveling home from the March for Life by bus. The tribute video was a moving reminder of the beautiful life that Joe led and all the lives he touched. We are all sad for the loss of Joe but take comfort and solace in knowing and remembering all the good times. May God’s peace be with you at this time of sadness.

No one can prepare you for the loss of a spouse, parent or child. I am sincerely sorry to hear of Joe's passing. He was truly a good father-in-law and grandfather to me and Amanda. I know Amanda is wiith him now and they are watching over us. My deepest condolences to all of you - Mrs. L, Karen, Paul, Terri, Lindsay, Bobby, Paul and Samantha.

Very sad news indeed, as I remember my Uncle Joe from numerous occasions like family reunions and as a child attending their wedding. But as Christians, we share an amazing hope. In the Bible book of John chapter 5 and verse 28, Jesus states, "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out...."
Acts 24:15 echoes that promise: "...There is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous."
So instead of counting the days he's been gone, we can confidently realize it's one day less 'til we see him again.
We're both with you in this temporary time of deep sadness.
