Obituary of Joseph Lawrence Kearney

Joseph Lawrence Kearney, age 82, of Tafton and formerly of Nesconset, LI, NY, died Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale.

 

Mr. Kearney was born August 26, 1935 in Woodside, NY and was the son of the late Joseph A and Ellen Margaret (Plover) Kearney.

 

Joseph was a graduate of Cardinal Hayes High School and earned his Bachelor's Degree from Iona College and his Master's Degree from St. John's University and retired in 1990 as an accountant.

 

He was a member of Central Islip Volunteer Fire Company and it's benevolent assoc., Air Force Reserves, National Ski Patrol, IBEW Local #3. He loved animals, nature and his beloved pets.

 

He is survived by his wife of 55 years: Janet Octavia (Dietrich) Kearney, three daughters & sons-in-law, Joan & Michael Badoud of Tafton, PA; Jeanne & Jim Kavanaugh of Albany, NY; Jacqueline & Gary Kopesky of Honesdale, PA; twelve grandchildren: Connor and Tanner Badoud; Sheamus and Jillian Kavanaugh; Devon, Gavin, Brayden, Caralena, Garrison, Gunner, Colton and Violet Kopesky.

 

Calling hours will be Thursday, June 7th from 4 PM to 8 PM at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Richard W. Beck, Friday, June 8th at 10 AM at BVM Queen Of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 314 Chestnut Ave, Hawley.

 

Cremation will be at Lake Region Crematory in Lake Ariel.
