Obituary of Ernest C. Hilling

Ernest C. Hilling, Jr., age 74, of Lakeville died Friday, June 8, 2018, at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale.  He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Patricia E. (Ionato) Hilling.

Born May 22, 1944, in Cresskill, NJ, he was the son of the late Ernest C. Sr. and Florence V. (Lehmkuhl) Hilling.  He was a police officer for 25 years with the Cresskill, NJ Police Department until his retirement in 1998.  In 1999, he and his wife moved to Lakeville.  After moving to Lakeville, Ernie worked part-time as an officer for the Hawley Police Department for many years.  Ernie was a member of NRA and Policeman's Benevolent Association.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters: Lisa Hilling and her spouse Anne Clare of Somerville, NJ, and Jennifer Hilling-Czaplinski and her husband Eric of Point Pleasant, NJ; one son: Todd Hilling of California, PA; four grandchildren:  Taylor, McKenna and Liam Hilling and Fin Czaplinski; and seven siblings:  Brian Hilling, Alana Meyer, Lynn Christiansen, Hilda Shane, Helen Maher, Phyllis Maguire and Tyler Hilling.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Hilling.

Private cremation was held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.  

A Memorial Service will be held at 3 PM on Saturday, July 7, at Teeters' Funeral Chapel, 505 Church St., Hawley, PA  18428.  Visitation will be from 1 to 3 PM at the funeral home.
