Obituary of Giovaninna Jordan

Giovaninna, "Jennie", "Jean" (Terranova) Jordan, age 88, a resident of Ellen Memorial Health Care Center in Honesdale and formerly of White Mills, PA and Paterson, NJ, died Sunday, July 6, 2014 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale. Mrs. Jordan was born February 25, 1926 in South Paterson, NJ and was the daughter of the late Rosario and Alfonsina (Panagia) Terranova. Jean was born, raised and lived in Paterson, NJ until moving to White Mills, PA in October 2005. She lived through the depression and worked her whole life as a factory worker and was employed for 20 years for Marcal Paper Products in Elmwood, NJ. Jean was a Frank Sinatra fan and saw him perform at the Paramount in New York City. She loved being a Roman Catholic and belonged to St. Stephen's Parish in Paterson, NJ for 48 years and became a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Parish in White Mills, PA until the church was closed and then she attended St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church in Beach Lake, PA and was a member of the St. John's Catholic Community of Honesdale, PA. Her favorite "sport" was dancing. She taught her daughter all the dances from the Jitterbug to the Twist. She loved bingo and socializing. She is survived by one daughter: Patricia Kirkland of White Mills, PA; two sisters: Theresa Thompson of Myrtle Beach, SC, Josephine Ricketts of Powder Springs, GA;19 nieces and nephews; cousins, Jeanette Terrandya of Fort Lauderdale, FL; Joseph Terranova of Staten Island, NY; great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews and many loving friends. She was predeceased by a son-in-law, Anthony Kirkland and a sister, Lena Orsillo. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Cremation will be at Lake Region Crematory in Lake Ariel, PA.
