Helen M. Hafler, age 86, of Honesdale died Thursday, August 30, 2018 at home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. Hafler, in 2008. Born August 17, 1932, in Uswick, PA, she was the daughter of the late James W. and Helen E. (Simpson) Arthur. Helen focused her life on raising her children and spending time with her family. She is survived by one daughter: Vera Halstead of Honesdale with whom she resided; five sons: Alan Lyons and his wife Julie of Beach Lake, Ron Lyons and his wife Colleen of North Carolina, Mike Turner of North Carolina, Doug Turner and his wife Tracey of Beach Lake, and Gary Hafler and his wife Kathy of Honesdale; two sisters: Janette Warner of Connecticut and Gail Turner and her husband Tom of Georgia; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a daughter: Donna Haas; three sisters: Hazel Arthur, Frances Weiss and Maybert Crane; one brother: James Arthur; and a grandson: Corey Wells. Calling hours will be Saturday, September 8, from 3 to 6 PM at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. The funeral will follow at 6:00 PM at the funeral home with Rev. William Samford of First Presbyterian Church of Hawley officiating. Private cremation will be held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.
