Obituary of William J. Hegelein

William J. "Bill" Hegelein, age 89, of Clarks Summit died Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Clarks Summit Senior Living Center, S. Abington Township, PA, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, the former Jean Denning.
Born December 14, 1924, in Hackensack, NJ, he was the son of the late Walter and Madeline (Wahmann) Hegelein.
After graduating high school he enlisted in the Army Air Corp and flew 30 missions in the European campaign during World War II. When he returned home he attended and graduated from New York University with a degree in business and accounting.
He was employed as the business administrator for the Tenafly Public School System for 35 years. Mr. Hegelein was a member of Paupack United Methodist Church, serving as a Trustee and Chairman of the Building Committee. He had resided in Tenafly, NJ, Lakeland Colony and Circle Green in Paupack before moving to Clarks Summit.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
In addition to his wife, He is survived by two daughters: Nancy Cluggish and her husband Rick of Highland Lakes, NJ, and Beth Campfield of Honesdale; two grandchildren: Laura Cluggish Montanez and her husband Justin of Etters, PA, and Dr. Brian Campfield and his wife Laurie of Coram, NY; and two great grandchildren: Ava Campfield and Jacob Montanez.
He was predeceased by a brother, Alan Hegelein.
The funeral will be Wednesday, July 16, at 11:00 AM at Paupack United Methodist Church, 579 Route 507, Paupack with Rev. Robert L. Wood officiating. Interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Paupack. Friends may call Tuesday, July 15, from 5 to 8 PM at the church.
