I met Eddie at the St Mark's Lutheran Church in NJ in early 1990. I was joining the Civil Air Patrol unit that met there once a week. Eddie and I had many discussions which included our military experience. I always remember each and every conversation being very pleasant because of Eddie's constant tone and positive attitude. He was a great pastor for our unit and for our many young cadets. I want to thank his family for sharing his time with us and allowing us to know a very giving person. God Bless you my friend Eddie!

Eddie always made my heart happy and brought a smile to my face. My heart is both saddened by the news of his passing but lifted to know he is free of the darkness that clouded his mind these last years to be himself with the Lord.

I recall some very happy memories of when Eddie and his family lived in Edon. One of the first nights that Eddie was in our little village he asked if there were any ham radio operators. The folks at the gas station didn’t know, but told him that we had a lot of antennas so Eddie showed up in our drive and as trilled to see Jerry’s amateur radio gear. That began a great, long lasting friendship. We shared meals at each other’s homes...I remember our kids were young and would lose food off their plates and the Nilsen poodles would immediately pick up and eat anything but the lettuce from the tacos. After the Nilsen’s left Edon, we keep in contact, even going to Morristown to visit. We were escorted to NY and went up in the twin towers to where Eddie knew someone.
Now, I am confident that Eddie and Jerry are both enjoying happiness in heaven. I am hopeful that the family finds comfort in the warm memories from good times in the past.
