Obituary of Lawrence A Blatz
Lawrence Andrew Blatz (Larry) passed peacefully at Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore on November 24, 2018 after a three year battle with cancer. He was 80.
Born in Queens, New York, Larry was the youngest of three children of the late August and Helen Blatz. He was preceded in death by his wife MaryAnn Kestler, the love of his life, whom he met on a blind date after being discharged from the Army, and his two brothers Alan August and Robert Charles.
Larry proudly served in the Army. He was a member of IBEW for 55 years and a retired Electrical Engineer from the College Miseracordia. He was a member of the Lion’s Club and was Vice President of the Wallenpaupack Vets for Vets where he helped raise money for needy veterans.
Larry was a parishioner of the Blessed Virgin Mary Queen of Peace and St. Veronica's Church Parish in Hawley/Paupack, PA.
His wife MaryAnn and his family were what he lived for. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer and just enjoyed spending time with those he loved.
Larry is survived by his four children: Jean and her husband Bill from Pennsylvania, Christopher from North Carolina, John from Virginia, and David and his wife Amy from New York; as well as his remaining sister/brother in-law: Dolores and Michael Kestler from New York. He had six grandchildren: Amanda, Brian, Jack, Maddie, Ella and Kate; a large extended family as well as many cherished friends who have been so kind and thoughtful during this most difficult time.
