Obituary of Robert Stephen Ost

Robert Stephen Ost, age 76, of Tanglwood Lakes, Greentown died Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Regional Hospital of Scranton. He was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Virginia "Ginny" Thomas Ost, on January 24, 2017.

 

Born August 11, 1942, in Oradell, NJ, he was the son of the late John H. and Johanna (Stoeht) Ost. A graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University, he also served in the Marine Corps. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a corporate accountant for ITT.

 

He and his wife also owned and operated the Tafton Country Store for many years. Rob was a lifetime member of Tafton Fire and Rescue Co, and a member of Pine Island Community Church in Florida. Although he was an avid Mets and Giants fan, his greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren.

 

 

He is survived by two daughters: Lisa M. Ost of Riverview, FL and Karen E. Mays and her husband John of Wilmington, DE; one son: Robert J. Ost and his wife Kristen of Tafton; his grandchildren: Ashleigh Ost, Madisen and Jorden Thompson, and Jack and Benjamin Mays; beloved granddog: Blizzard.

 

He was preceded in death by three siblings, Evelyn McNett, Ruth VanWagoner and John Ost.

 

Calling hours will be Friday, Dec. 21, 2018 from 10 to 11 am at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. The funeral will follow at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Heidi Gruesser officiating. Private cremation will be held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.
