Obituary of Alma M. Kretsch

Alma Kretsch,(Ackerman) 89, died on Friday July 25th 2014 in Brick NJ, Predeceased by husband of 64 years, John Kretsch. Born in Clifton NJ on March 13th 1925, Alma was originally from Passaic Park NJ, Alma lived in Fair Lawn NJ for 48 years. Alma was the first girl to go to vocational school where she studied printing. Alma worked in the printing business with her Father Henry and Brother Robert. Alma also worked for Matzners and the Paterson Evening News as a linotype operator. She later managed corporate cafeterias.
After retirement Alma moved to Greeley Pa. and was secretary for Bear Ridge Property Owners Association for many years. Alma was also active in her Church, Cole Memorial in Hawley Pa. Alma moved to Brick NJ two years ago. Alma was very creative and could sew anything. She always made all of the Halloween costumes for her children and grandchildren. Alma was always so full of life and love and was always smiling. She never complained about anything and was a joy to be around. She was the most fabulous Mom and Grandma/Great Grandma. Mom recently said "why be plain when you can shine". Mom lived a life so full that it is impossible to contain on one page.
Alma is survived by her son Jeffrey Kretsch and his wife Livia, her daughter Donna Salinas and her husband Ramon, daughter Marie Gomes and her husband Richard. Alma is also survived by her Grandchildren, John Salinas and his wife Amanda, Christopher, Daniel, Ray, Lauren, and Marc Salinas, Shayna, Noah and Richard Gomes and her Great Grandson Logan Salinas.
Alma is also survived by her beloved pets, her dog Daisy and her cats Lucky and Ginger.
Alma was predeceased by her Husband of 64 years, John Kretsch, her daughter Linda Woll, her parents Henry and Marie Ackerman and her brother Robert Ackerman.
Calling hours will be held at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St., Hawley, on Monday, July 28, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral will be held Tuesday, July 29, at 10:30 AM at Cole Memorial Baptist Church, Church St. and Bishop Ave, Hawley, with Pastor John J. May Sr. officiating. Burial will be held at Green Gates Cemetery, Hawley.
