Obituary of Laurence, Claude & Eric von Hake

Lawrence R. "Larry" von Hake was born in Yokohama, Japan and died April 30, 2019 in Bradenton, Florida. He was raised in Hawley and graduated from Hawley High School and later Lawrenceville Prep in New Jersey. Larry was a graduate of Yale University, Class of '53 and received his Masters Degree from C.W. Post University. He taught high school English on Long Island, NY for many years. He was an Army veteran and was well known for his poetry and piano talents. Claude "Cherie" Garon von Hake was born in Vienne, France. She met Larry while he was stationed in Nancy, France. They were married a few months later. Cherie operated an inport/export business prior to her retirement. During their life, she and Larry resided in Long Island, Hawley, Clarks Summit and finally in Florida. Eric R. von Hake passed away January 30, 2019 in Las Vages, NV. He was the son of Lawrence and Claude von Hake. He had been employed by SouthWest Gas Co. as a meter reader in Nevada. He is survived by one daughter: Sophie Von Hake & her husband, Bob Bolus of Clarks Summit, PA; nephew, Clay & his wife, Carol Von Hake; nephew, Jesse Fleming; granddaughters, Katie L. & Christina D Gregory. A graveside service will be Saturday, July 20th at 3 PM at Green Gates Cemetery, 1020 Hudson St, Hawley with Pastor Michelle Whitlock, Hawley United Methodist Church, officiating.
