Peter Doelger, Jr., age 85, of Promised Land, Greentown died Monday, December 9, 2019 at Gardens at East Mountain, Wilkes Barre. Born July 27, 1934, in Long Branch, NJ, he was the son of the late Peter and Dorothy (Scarff) Doelger Sr. A Navy veteran of the Korean War, he worked as a home renovator until his retirement.

 

Formerly of Bricktown, NJ, he moved to Promised Land in 1998, where he operated Promises Kept Market in Promised Land. Peter was a member of BVM Queen Of Peace Roman Catholic Church, Hawley and St. Veronica's RC Church, Greentown, and the Knights Of Columbus, Rev William B. Healey Council 797, Hawley. He was also a member of the American Legion in Newfoundland.

 

 

He is survived by two sons: Peter Doelger and his companion Ronald Beavers Jr. of Reeders, PA and Michael Stephen Doelger and his wife Kim of Bayville, NJ; his wife: Elizabeth Ann Doelger of Toms River, NJ; and two grandchildren: Brayden and Jillian.

 

Calling hours will be Thursday, Dec. 12, from 8:30 to 9:30 AM at Teeters' Funeral Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. The funeral will follow at 10:00 AM at BVM Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 314 Chestnut Ave, Hawley, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Richard W. Beck, Pastor. Burial will be in Fort Indiantown Gap Cemetery, Annville, PA following the Mass.
