William Robert Compton, age 65, of Hawley died Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at home.
Born October 5, 1954, in Honesdale, Billy was the son of Elsie Louise (Dieterich) Compton and the late Robert Herbert Compton Sr. A graduate of Wallenpaupack Area High School, he was a woodworker for S.J. Bailey & Sons, Honesdale, and later a forklift operator.
He is survived by his mother: Elsie Compton of Hawley; five brothers: Gerald Compton of Hawley, Darryl Jay Compton of Hawley, Robert Compton Jr. of Zephyr Hills, FL, Ronald Compton of Hawley, and Todd Compton of Hawley; and several nieces and nephews.
A member of Hawley United Methodist Church, he was active with the Hawley Fire Department and Hawley Ambulance Company in his younger years.
Private cremation was held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.
William will be interred with his mother Elsie in Green Gates Cemetery, Hawley. Graveside Service is scheduled for Saturday May 21, 2022 at 12:30PM. Rev. James C. House, pastor of Beach Lake United Methodist Church will officiate.
