Obituary of Richard W Quince
Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Richard (“Dick”) W. Quince of Hawley, PA (formerly of Montvale, NJ) passed away at his home at the age of 76.
He will be widely remembered for his charming Yorkshire accent, kind and compassionate spirit, infectious smile and love of long stories.
Born in Whitby, a coastal town in North Yorkshire, England, Dick obtained a degree in electrical engineering and emigrated to the U.S., enjoying a long and respected technical and management career with Lucas Aerospace in Englewood, NJ, a role that would also bring him to work in Toronto, Canada.
After his retirement, he remained happily settled in Woodloch Springs in Hawley, PA, where this fly fisherman found himself more often on the golf greens than the water, accompanied by his cherished golf foursome and their families, including: Tony Cardell, Art Matzinger and Frank Borelli.
He considered friendships he forged on the Woodloch links, various committees and within the entire community, nothing short of family and there are simply too many good friends made to name.
Dick was predeceased by his father, William Quince, and his mother, Margaret (Locker), both of the United Kingdom, where he is remembered with love by his cousins: Roland, Harvey and Gareth Locker and their families.
He is survived by his former spouse, Mary Ann Quince (nee Frank). Believing the importance of family is a gift not to be diminished by a separation, they bestowed unwavering love, devotion and generosity of spirit to their shared family, including surviving siblings in-law, including: Theresa, Brenda, Emily, James, Kevin and Lynda Frank; Bob and Margaret Hill; Kathleen and Marion Dabrowski and Jane Halligan.
Much to his delight, his family also included beloved nieces and nephews: Jean (Joseph) and Denyse (Chad) Dabrowski; MaryKate and Karen Frank; Kim Roselli (Michael); Megan Hill; Laura (George), Kellian and Colleen Frank; Shanna Louis (David) and Katelyn and Kevin Frank.
He was also blessed with loving grandnieces and nephews, including: Stella and Grayson Dabrowski-Wheeler, Cidney Frank, James Roselli and Charles Louis.
A master craftsman, Dick built numerous full-size childrens’ playhouses for his nieces -- as well used his skills to turn finely crafted wooden bowls and other fine woodworks.
Not only did he relish sourcing the wood for each piece, but also sharing his knowledge of each species and grain with his family. Many suspect he also found great pride in the fact that his finished works would live on as both coveted family heirlooms and the most desired grab bag prize at family Christmas each year.
He will be dearly missed by family, friends and all those he touched - both near, abroad and forever.
Due to the current situation, a memorial will be held at future time. To honor his memory, please consider donating in his name to the charities he so generously supported:
