Obituary of June Strait

Please share a memory of June to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
June Strait died peacefully at home after a long illness. Daughter of Alvilde Pedersen Ellingsen and Christoffer Ellingsen (her father designed Bingham Park and drew the plans and oversaw construction of Hawley's bandstand). She is survived by her daughters Barbara Reding of Florida, Nikolina Ellingsen and Jacqueline Nichols of Utah, Mary Ellingsen of Arizona, and sons Charles Strait Jr of Hawley, and Timothy Strait of Richfield, PA as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and so on to the 5th generation. Her husband Charles Strait Sr. preceded her in death. Services at Teeters Funeral Chapel, Hawley, PA on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at 11 AM and internment will be Green Gate Cemetery, Hawley. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 to 11 AM. June recently celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by friends and family. She was born, lived and died in Hawley, a town she loved. Longtime Wayne County residents may remember her as being her late husband's partner as owner/operators of Hawley Taxi or as her being a school van driver or even her being crossing guard at Hawley Elementary and later Wallenpaupack. She spent her retirement years fulfilling her lifetime dream of traveling America, Canada and Europe. She lived every day to the fullest and cherished nothing more than the company of family and friends. She is loved and will be missed by everyone that was lucky enough to have known her.
