Obituary of Rose King

Rose (Uzupes) King, age 78, of Cheraw, SC died Friday, August 21, 2020 at Midlands Health & Rehab in Columbia, SC. She spent her formative years in the Hawley and Lake Wallenpaupack area before venturing south several years ago. Mrs. King was born March 7, 1942 in New York City and was the daughter of the late Pasquale and the late Rose (Grief) Cassero. She predominantly worked in the retail industry as a sales associate and was quite proud of her pre-marriage stint as a medical secretary and nursing consultant. Rose was an avid reader who profoundly enjoyed knitting and crocheting and had a special affinity for incorporating owls and horses in her designs. In her later years, poetry and writing became a newly discovered passion, which brought great comfort and inspiration to many others as well as herself. She is survived by her loving son: Vinson A. Uzupes of Honesdale, PA and precious daughter, Vanessa M. Uzupes and her husband Mark Owens of Naples, FL; two grandchildren: Emma Uzupes Owens and Nathan Owens, both of Naples, FL; one sister, Suzanne Cassero of Bristol, CT and one brother: Abraham "Al" Tepper, and a multitude of nieces, nephews and cousins. Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Edward T. King; brothers, Jack Tepper, Harold "Sonny" Tepper and William "Billy" Cassero; and sisters, Irma Cassero, Alma Cassero and Lucy Cassero. Calling hours will be Monday, August 31st from 3 to 7 PM at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, September 1st at 10 AM at BVM Queen Of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 314 Chestnut Ave, Hawley by Rev. Richard W. Beck, Pastor.
