Allan Francis Powers, age 75, of Hawley died Saturday, November 28, 2020, at Geisinger-Community Medical Center, Scranton. Born July 15, 1945, in Brooklyn, NY, Allan the son of the late Allan Francis Sr. and Maria M. (Gallant) Powers. He served in the Marine Corps from 1965 to 1968 and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Formerly of Middle Village, NY, he worked for United Parcel Service where he retired as shop steward in 1990. A 11-year resident of Hawley, Allan was a member of American Legion, Wilson-Kelch Post 311, and was a member of the Elks Club when he lived in New York. Allan enjoyed golfing in his younger years. An avid football fan, he also loved to play the lottery. He could often be found socializing and playing cards with his friends at the Legion, but he most loved spending time with his granddaughter. He is survived by one daughter: Carey Powers of Middle Village, NY; one granddaughter: Taryn Moran; one sister: Janie Powers of Greenwood Lake, NY; two brothers: Michael Powers of Sweden and Douglas Powers of Sunset, UT; his longtime companion: Diane LaMonica of Hawley; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be Wednesday, December 2, from 1 to 3 PM at Teeters' Funeral Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. The funeral will be Friday, Dec. 4, at 1:00 PM at Calverton National Cemetery, 210 Princeton Blvd., Calverton, NY. The family requests that no flowers be sent.
