Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joseph L. Klikus of Hawley, passed away December 9, 2020 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale. He was born in Waymart May 22, 1942 to the late Joseph A. Klikus and Francis Kerylovicz Klikus. Joe grew up in Waymart and was the oldest of five siblings. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 48 years, Carol Shumek Klikus, and his beloved son Jeffery J. Klikus. Joe lived most of his adult life in Hawley and never wished to venture far from his beloved home. He worked for many years for W. F. James in Hawley doing all phases of home construction and repair. At the same time, Joe worked for Del-Val Electrical Inspections as an electrical inspector. In the early 1980's Joe began self-employment, continuing to serve the Hawley area with his skills in home construction, electrical, and plumbing services. In 1993, he and his son Todd went into business together to create their company Tri-County Inspection Agency, Inc. Joe retired from his construction business in 1997, but continued doing electrical inspections through 2004. Joe will be remembered as a very private, independent, and hardworking man. He was never idle, working most days from dusk to dawn. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved being outside, whether working on his machinery or making improvements and maintaining his beloved homestead on Apple Lane. Joe was an accomplished gardener and every year grew a bountiful vegetable garden that he graciously shared with his family and neighbors. Joe was always there to give a helping hand to his family, from home building projects to, in his later years, baking the best chocolate chip cookies for his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all. Joe is survived by his son Todd J. Klikus and wife Susan of Beach Lake, his son Joseph M. Klikus and wife Nicole of Hawley, and his grandchildren Carson J. Klikus of Beach Lake, and Jeffery and Jade Klikus of Hawley. He is also survived by his siblings Patricia Druther of Etters, PA, Dorothy Klikus of Waymart, John Klikus of Carbondale, and Kay Jennings of Lafayette, LA, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and good neighbors. Private services will be held by the family at a future date.
