Obituary of Joan H. Cordes

Joan Haase Cordes, age 85, of Greentown died Friday, February 5, 2021 at home. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Frederick J. Cordes, in 2008. Born March 20, 1935, in Jersey City, NJ, she was the daughter of the late John and Meta (Pape) Haase. Joan was a devoted stay at home mom and grandma. To Joan, family came first. She never missed a game, graduation, or family event, and loved spending time with her granddaughters. She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church and cherished the time she spent with former pastor, Rev. Colleen Cox, and the St. Paul's congregation. She is survived by one son: Richard Cordes and his wife Kathryn of Newfoundland; two daughters: Lisa Jacques and her husband Rick of Archbald and Janice Cordes and her companion, John Osborne of Honesdale; two granddaughters: Kaelyn Jacques and her fiance Marc Christensen of Archbald and Jordyn (Jacques) Hanna and her husband Jonathan of Lake Ariel; as well as beloved family pets: Kobe, Max, Little Dog and Oakley. She is also survived by three nieces, Lori Haase, Dr. Allison Chambers and Megan Schnader, Esquire. Joan leaves behind many close friends who she considered to be her family. She was preceded in death by her brother, Henry Haase and his wife Grace. A Memorial Service will be held at a future date to be determined.
