Rose Corcoran Winkler, 86 of Hawley, passed away on April 19th, 2021 at Wayne Memorial Hospital. She was surrounded by her six children and several grandchildren. Rose was married for 55 years to her beloved high school sweetheart Otto R. Winkler, who passed away in 2011. Born in Hawley in 1934, Rose was the daughter of Kathryn Schipano Corcoran. She was a graduate of Hawley High School, Class of 1952 and was a faithful member of BVM Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church. Rose was employed as a seamstress, working alongside her sister Marie Gumble at Marie’s Custom Draperies for 35 years. Rose was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was full of compassion, kindness and grace. Best known for her culinary skills in her kitchen and most famous for her homemade pies, doughnuts, cinnamon buns and chocolate chip cookies, Rose brought delight to her family and every child in the “Snufftown” neighborhood. Rose was an avid Chicago Bulls and Michael Jordan fan during the late 90’s Bulls run. She loved a great casino trip, a Mets game, and spending time with her family and friends. During her later years, Rose enjoyed traveling with her husband to Nashville, Branson, Graceland and several National Parks out west. Surviving are Rose’s six children: Gina Neenan and husband Dennis, Laurie Granville, Richard Winkler and companion Tina Augello, Kathleen Strasser and husband Gary, Robin Scartelli and husband Ralph, and Robert Winkler; grandchildren: Lauren and Ryan Neenan, Daniel and Amanda Granville, Cody and Zachary Strasser, Rocco and Olivia Scartelli, Emily, Alex, Jordan, Jonathan and Jasmine Winkler; and seven great-grandchildren. Rose is also survived by her daughter in-law Teresa Winkler and her loving brother Daniel Corcoran. Rose was predeceased by two brothers: John and James Corcoran; a sister: Marie Gumble; and her son-in-law: Joseph Granville Jr. The Winkler family would like to thank the outstanding Hospice Care of Wayne Memorial Hospital, in particular Charlene Whitmore and all members of her Hospice team and Sinclair’s Home Health Care Services. They would also like to thank Debbie Palazzi and Colleen Morrissey for the many hours they spent with Rose and their constant love, care and companionship. Calling hours will be Monday, April 26th, from 2-4pm and 6-9pm at Teeters East Chapel; 505 Church St. Hawley. The Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, April 27th, at 10am at BVM Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 314 Chestnut Ave. Hawley. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the Winkler Family Memorial Fund, c/o The Dime Bank, 99 Welwood Ave., Hawley, PA 18428. Awards will be presented yearly at Wallenpaupack Area High School to deserving applicants, in honor of Otto R. and Rose Winkler.
