Mary Ellen Ree, age 76, of Lake Ariel and formerly of Middle Village, NY, died Monday, May 3, 2021 at Allied Skilled Nursing in Scranton. Mrs. Ree was born March 22, 1945 in Queens, NY and was the daughter of the late Sarkis and Lousazart "Lucy" (Cherbakian) Herdemian. She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred Joseph Ree in 2002. She was an avid bowler and liked to sew. She loved to cook, especially Italian food and cheesecakes, skills she put to use in the years she and her husband, Alfred, and family owned AJ's Fireplace in Tafton. She is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Linda & Michael Sura of Tafton, PA; two sons & daughters-in-law, Joseph & Mary Ree of Jermyn, PA; Anthony & Nicole Ree of Hawley, PA; five grandchildren Stephen Sura, Shawn Sura, Samantha Sura, Syndey Sura and Noah Ree; one sister: Rose Lambert of FL and one brother: Richard Herdemian of East Stroudsburg, PA. Calling hours will be Thursday, May 13th from 4 PM to 7 PM at Teeters' Funeral Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, May 14th at 9 AM at St Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, 106 Gravity Rd, Lake Ariel by Rev. Steven Stavoy. Burial will be in St Mary's Cemetery, Lake Ariel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ronald McDonald House, 139 South Lake Ave, Albany, NY 12208.
