Herbert F. Martin, age 80, of Masthope, Lackawaxen, died following an illness Sunday, September 21, 2014, at Hahnemann Hospital, Philadelphia. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, the former Sandra L. Barton. Born December 31, 1933, in Glendale , NY, he was the son of the late George and Margaret (Hoy) Martin. Formerly of Centereach, NY, he retired as a New York City fire fighter in 1986. He had been a Masthope resident for 24 years. Mr. Martin was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, Rowland, where he served both as Deacon and Trustee. He was also a 20+ year member of Lackawaxen Vol. Fire Dept. and was a member of the Ford Model A Club. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Robert Martin of Virginia, Claire Piscitelli of Long Island, NY, Richard Martin of Florida, Kenneth Webster of Florida, Cynthia Asher of Chicago, IL, and Ronald Webster of Indiana; two sisters: Karen Stringham and Elizabeth House, both of Florida; 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, George Martin, and a son, Steven Martin. Calling hours will be Saturday, Sept. 27, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. The funeral will be Sunday, Sept. 28, at 2:00 PM at Bethel Lutheran Church, Church Road, Rowland, with Rev. Norman R. Beighley, Pastor, officiating. Private cremation will be held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.
