Joan K. Kiesendahl, age 74, of Hawley passed following a long and courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, PA with her three sons by her side. Born November 12, 1946, in Rockville Centre, NY Joan was the daughter of the late Edward A. and Kathleen (Cudahy) Anderson. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Marywood University. Joan’s focus in life was always on her family along with her volunteer work with many organizations. Most notably, Joan was the co-founder of the BK Hope Cures Foundation which has hosted local fundraising events that benefit the fight against cancer over the past 22 years. She also participated with the American Red Cross, Hawley Library, local PTA, Athletic Booster Clubs and many other worthy causes. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, Rowland. She is survived by three sons: Bob Kiesendahl, Matt Kiesendahl and Bradley Kiesendahl and his wife Jennifer, all of Hawley; her brother: Edward “Skip” Anderson and his wife Gail of Rowland; and seven grandchildren: Zach, Luke, Drew, Devon, Samuel, Edward, and Anthony. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 9, from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM at First Presbyterian Church, 815 Church St., Hawley. A Celebration of Joan’s Life will be held at a future date to be determined. Private cremation was held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.
