Barbara Whitlock, age 79, of Virginia Beach, VA died Friday, October 8, 2021. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, William C. Whitlock. Born November 28, 1941, in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Howard C. and Florence (Howell) Mayer. Raised in Hawley, PA, she was a graduate of Hawley High School, Class of 1959. She and her husband William were married in 1961 and had two children. Once her children were in school, she returned to college and earned a BS in Education from East Stroudsburg College. Although primarily a homemaker, she did work as a substitute teacher as well. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter: Michele Gladu and her husband Bob of Virginia Beach, VA; one son: Charles M. Whitlock and his wife Ronnett of Cuddebackville, NY; three granddaughters: Alexandra DeSimone and her husband Peter, Sara Gladu, and Amanda Ross; and two sisters: Martha Russell of Audubon, PA and Judith Schrecongost and her husband Michael of Lake Ariel, PA. There will be a Graveside Service held at 2:00 PM, October 23, 2021, at Pine Grove Cemetery, Route 507, Paupack, PA. For the final years of her life, Barbara was lovingly cared for by the professional healthcare workers at Our Lady of Perpetual Help. In rememberance of Barbara's life, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Employee Fund at 4560 Princess Anne Rd. Virginia Beach, VA 23462.
