Elsie L. Compton, age 83, of Hawley died with her family at her side on Sunday, December 26, 2021 at her winter home in Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Robert H. Compton Sr.
Born January 10, 1938, in Carbondale, Elsie was the daughter of the late Edward and Ruth Dieterich of Honesdale. Prior to her retirement, Elsie worked at a number of businesses over the years including J.C. Penney, Fashion Bug and the Woodloch Bakery.
In her free time, Elsie enjoyed her crafting, ceramics and socializing with people.
She is survived by five sons: Jerry, Darryl, Robert Jr., Ronnie and Todd Compton; her sister: Carlynn Tyler; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, William, in 2020, and her brother, Butch Dieterich.
Elsie will be interred with her son William in Green Gates Cemetery, Hawley. Graveside Service is scheduled for Saturday May 21, 2022 at 12:30PM. Rev. James C. House, pastor of Beach Lake United Methodist Church will officiate.
