Obituary of William C. Schmidt

William Christian Schmidt, age 76, of Ellen Memorial Health Care Center, Honesdale died Wednesday, December 29, 2021. Born January 20th, 1945, he was the son of William and Muriel Schmidt of Newark, NJ. He was in the Navy during the Vietnam War years and was trained as an Ordinance Mechanic. He worked as a black seal in several jobs and then switched to trucking and for a time was an owner/operator. He spent the last 20 years or so in the Wayne County area of Pennsylvania and had good friends there. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was part of the Blooming Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Doug Rhine. Pastor Rhine was very helpful to Chris physically and spiritually. He is survived by his sister: Marjorie E. Schmidt Miller and her husband Dave; as well as a niece: Kimberly Burdge; and a nephew: Derek Miller. Visitation will be held from 11 to 11:30 AM on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St., Hawley, PA 18428. The Memorial Service will follow at 11:30 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Douglas L. Rhine of Blooming Grove Baptist Church officiating.
