Obituary of Clare "Kay" Reafler

Kay (Clare) Wenders Reafler, age 93, a Hawley resident for most of her life, died Thursday, April 7, 2022, at Bethany Village, Bethany. She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Edward F. Reafler, in 1987. Born June 30, 1928, in White Mills, Kay was the daughter of the late John T. and Ella Charlotte (Swanson) Wenders. She is survived by two daughters: Kathy Macleary of Hawley and Nancy Morgan of Temple, PA; her grandchildren: Eddie Gibbons of Hawley, Tim Gibbons of Honesdale, Billy Macleary (Stephanie) of Honesdale, Samantha Macleary (Kim) of Parma, OH, and James Morgan (Mia) of Morristown, NJ; her sister-in-law: Louise Rowe of Honesdale; her longtime friend: Annette Erk; eleven great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a grandson, Jason Morgan, and a brother, Jack Wenders. Private cremation was held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel. There are no services scheduled at this time. Kay’s family would like to extend their deepest thanks and appreciation for the care provided by the staff at Bethany Village and the nurses from Wayne Memorial Hospice. Memorials in Kay’s name may be made to One By One Cat Rescue, 1984 Mount Laurel Rd, Fleetwood, PA 19522 or Pike County Humane Society, 189 Lee Rd, Shohola, PA 18457.
