Obituary of Barbara J. Rankin

Barbara J. Rankin, age 79, of Hawley died Sunday, May 15, 2022, at Wayne Woodlands Manor, Waymart. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Rankin, in 2003. Born January 7, 1943, in Honesdale, Barbara was the daughter of the late George and Mildred E. (Huff) Jezercak. Prior to her retirement, she worked in the Gift Shop and Deli at Woodloch Pines. She had also previously worked at Seams in White Mills for many years. Barbara loved going to the Hawley Senior Center and spending time with her friends there. However, her family meant everything to her. She enjoyed travelling, especially to visit her daughter in Virginia Beach and her grandchildren in Montana. She is survived by one daughter: Lorie Lyons of Virginia Beach, VA; one son: George Lyons of Alaska; her partner: Edward Reim of Hawley; two sisters: Maryann Groff of Florida and Beverly Simons of Tafton; six grandchildren: George, Christopher, Stephen, Richard, Zachary and Heather; and twelve great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, June 15, from 3 to 6 PM, at Teeters’ Funeral Chapel, 505 Church St., Hawley, PA 18428. Inurnment will follow at Green Gates Cemetery, Hudson St., Hawley. Private cremation was held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel. Memorial donations may be made to the Hawley Senior Center, 337A Park Place, Hawley, PA 18428 or Billy's New Hope Barn, 349 Schoolhouse Rd., Honesdale, PA 18431, www.billysnewhopebarn.com.
