Obituary of Joan Louise Tartas

Joan Tartas, 87, of Hamlin, PA, passed away Sunday, September 4th at home with her daughters and family at her side. Before moving to PA in the 1990s, she lived in Bergen County NJ, where Joan worked as a nurse for numerous years. After moving to PA, she worked at the Hawley Library, where she had good friends and made a difference in the lives of many people. She loved all of her family, her friends, and her pets. She took great joy in sitting on her porch, reading a good book, and admiring the hummingbirds in her front yard. Joan was well-loved by all who knew her. She will be missed beyond measure. There will be a Memorial Service on Saturday, September 10th, at 1:00 PM at Teeters' Funeral Chapel, 505 Church St., Hawley, followed by a reception at a local establishment (details to follow). Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 12:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Hawley Public Library, 103 Main Ave., Hawley, PA 18428, or to Dessin Animal Shelter, 138 Miller Rd., Honesdale, PA 18431, are welcome.
