Obituary of Frederick Leonard Thek

Frederick Leonard Thek, age 101, a lifelong resident of Greentown died Sunday, September 18, 2022 at home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maureen Elizabeth (Herrmann) Thek, in 2002. Born at home on Shiney Mountain Road in Greentown on September 23, 1920, Fred was the son of the late Matthew and Kathryn (Hettlinger) Thek. He was a World War II Army veteran, during which service he was awarded the Purple Heart and Silver Star. He worked as a masonry contractor until his retirement and was a member of Light of Christ Church in Mt. Cobb. He is survived by three daughters: Geraldine Reid of Hawley, Marguerite Black of Lake Ariel, and Elizabeth French of Greentown: three sons: Frederick Thek Jr. of Darby, MT, William Thek of Kemmerer, WY and Brennan Thek of Poughkeepsie, NY, 15 grandchildren, and many great-great and great-great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Matthew Thek. Calling hours will be Thursday, Sept. 22, from 4 PM to 7 PM and Friday, Sept. 23, from 9 to 10 AM at Teeters' Funeral Chapel, Inc., 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. The funeral will be Friday at 10:00 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Patricia Lee of Light of Christ Church officiating. Burial will follow in Thek Family Cemetery, Greentown. The family would like to thank the staff of Wayne Memorial Hospice for their great care.
