Mary Porto, age 94, of Honesdale died Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Porto, in 2010.
Born September 29, 1928, in Guttenburg, NJ, Mary was the daughter of the late Marcello and Oliva (Visintini) Carlini. She was formerly a resident of Fairview, NJ, and Wallenpaupack Lake Estates, Lake Ariel.
She was the family historian. Mary was an incredible baker and baked ten varieties of Christmas cookies every year. She had a fine spirit and was very religious.
She was a loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and dear friend. She was gentle, kind, and good natured. She never had a bad word to say about others. She was a true lady, to be admired by all.
Mary is survived by two daughters: Dale Porto and her husband Robert Whitaker and Linda Porto and her husband Thomas McCarroll; and two grandchildren, Corynn and Christopher McCarroll.
The Funeral Mass will be Saturday, December 3, at 10:00 AM at St Mary's Roman Catholic Church, St. Mary's Church Rd., Ledgedale, with Father Stephen Bosomafi officiating.
Burial will follow at St Mary's Cemetery.
