John George “Spence” Spencer, age 57, of Promised Land died Thursday, January 26, 2023, at St. Luke's University Hospital, Bethlehem.
Born September 12, 1965, in Abington Twp., PA, Spence was the son of Bob Spencer of Tafton and the late Catherine (Thomas) Spencer. He had been a maintenance tech for Weis Markets.
A beloved son and brother, Spence enjoyed volunteering at Pocono Raceway, where he camped on the infield with other volunteers raising money for the Boy Scouts of America. He also volunteered as Santa Claus for the Boy Scouts and nursing homes. Spence loved to smoke a good cigar, tinkering on his 1953 Pontiac, and was an excellent cook.
Spence was an avid Harley Davidson fan with his own Harley that he loved to ride. Several years ago, he traveled with the Baer Harley Davidson group to tour the Harley Davidson factory in York, PA. While staying in the hotel there, they all went to a nearby karaoke bar where Spence was cheered on by the group as he was singing onstage.
Private cremation will be held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.
