Mary E. (Swinyer) Hickey, passed peacefully in the home she resided in with her family on February 2nd, 2023, at the age of 86. She was born on May 27, 1936 in Saranac, NY. She was the daughter of the late Ernest and Ellen (McConnell) Swinyer. She was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, William George Hickey.

A resident of Hawley for a majority of her life, she was known by so many and loved by all. She enjoyed a multitude of things throughout her life such as roses, warm weather, bird watching from her window (especially cardinals), watching eagles fly across the river from the front porch and listening to Elvis Presley. However, the thing she enjoyed most of all was the time she spent with her family.

Today she is lovingly remembered by two daughters: Ellen Knapp, her soul caregiver, and husband Bernard Knapp of Kimbles; Sandra Quick of Hawley; her grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Dalyla and Isabella Knapp, whom she adored; Kevin and Ryan Gallipani, Sarah Freiermuth and Cyndi Meyer; along with several great grandchildren. She will continue to be remembered by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her two sons, Steven Head and David Head Sr.; her daughter, Teresa Bates; and her granddaughter, Jessica Kugler.
