Obituary of S. Wesley Thomas Jr.

S. Wesley Thomas, Jr., age 85, of Tafton died Monday, June 12, 2023, at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ruth Elizabeth (Nicholson) Crane Thomas. Born August 21, 1937, in Philadelphia, PA, Wesley was the son of the late S. Wesley and Evelyn (Harte) Thomas, Sr. A US Navy Veteran, he had worked as a civil engineer for Lockheed Martin. Formerly of Lower Moreland and Bryn Athyn, PA, he and his wife moved to Tafton nearly 30 years ago. He was an avid skier and had also been a ski instructor at Tanglwood and Ski Big Bear ski areas. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son: Douglas Crane and his wife Nancy of Atlanta, GA; two grandchildren: Jenny Crane Defler and her husband Kerry and Lance Crane and his wife Tara; seven great grandchildren: Hannah Grace, Bryce, Maddi and Brady Defler, and Becca, Ansleigh and Haleigh Crane; two sisters: Linda McGinnis of Huntington Valley, PA, and Gail Marcini and her husband Steve of Delaware; a sister: Jane Scorne; and a brother: Richard Thomas of Philadelphia. He was predeceased by stepsons, Thomas and Jeffrey Crane. Private cremation was held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date to be announced.
