Margaret O'Reilly, 88, a resident of Hawley, died peacefully Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Elan Skilled Nursing and Rehab Scranton.
Born July 23, 1935, in Jackson Heights, NY, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary McCabe. Margaret was educated at Saint Jeans Baptiste High School in New York City and worked as a customer service representative in the banking field.
After retirement, Margaret moved to Hawley, PA to enjoy life at the lake with her devoted husband of 66 years, Leo O'Reilly II, who continues to reside in PA. She enjoyed time at the lake with her grandchildren and sitting on her porch in the woods watching the birds. She was an avid reader, loved musicals, and listening to music.
Margaret was a supportive, loving, kindhearted person who touched the hearts of many. In addition to making memories with her beloved family, Margaret enjoyed social outings with her friends at the Red Hat Society, where she was an active member for many years.
Also surviving are a son: Leo O'Reilly III and his wife Ginny; daughters: Patricia O'Reilly-Philippen and her husband Hans, Barbara Zimmerman and her husband Craig, and Kathleen Hovey and her husband Adam; adoring grandchildren: Leo IV, Mallory, Chloe, Dara, John, Megan, Sara and Annie; and great-grandchildren: Calvin and Penelope.
A private cremation took place at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00AM Friday, December 1, 2023, at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Ledgedale, Lake Ariel. Inurnment of cremains to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Those attending the Mass are asked to report directly to the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 DannyThomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, Www.stjude.org or donor's favorite charity.
