James Emerson Brill, age 87, of Tafton died Sunday, December 17, 2023, at Regional Hospital of Scranton. He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Mae (Deeble) Brill. They celebrated their 66th anniversary on November 3, 2023.
Born October 2, 1936, in Rush Township, Schuylkill County, PA, James was the son of the late Walter S. and Margaret A. (Fowler) Brill. Following his graduation from high school, he served in the US Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War. Formerly of Birdsboro, PA, he worked as a telephone lineman for Conestoga Telephone Company until his retirement and had served as president of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
James and his wife Nancy had been residents of Tafton for 25 years and members of First Presbyterian Church of Hawley.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Tawny Joy Hohl and her husband Frank of Greentown and Rebecca Susan Brill of Tafton; one son: James Edward Brill and his wife Bonnie of Wernersville, PA; five grandchildren: Jenifer Mae Sparr, Brian Lee Pusch, Alanna Hildebrand, Daniel Brill and Jordianna Maldonado; and six great grandchildren: Luke, Delaney, Grayson, Avery Jay, Elleanora and Kenna.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Stanley Brill, and a great grandson, Liam James.
