Joan Woliski Savage, 91, of Tafton died on December 31, 2023 at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton after a sudden illness. She was the daughter of Mary Garrity Woliski and Alexander Woliski. Also predeceasing her was her husband of 40 years Richard Chester Savage and her sons Richard Jr., Thomas, and James and her siblings Lillian Woliski Seeley, Shirley Woliski Meling, and Edward Woliski. Surviving her is her sister Pauline Woliski Meinzer and daughters Stephanie Savage of Tafton and Elvira Boyd of Texas and grandchildren Nichole Sharp of Tennessee, Danielle Schwab of Dunmore, Richard Savage of Tafton, JT Savage of Tafton, Cody Boyd of Texas and Taylor LeMoine of Iowa. Also surviving her are 6 great grandchildren and daughter-in-law Pauline Schwab Savage of Tafton and sister-in-law Marie Savage Leach of Lords Valley, along with many nieces and nephews. For 28 years she and her family moved to various Army assignments around the world. In 1976 they returned to the Lake Wallenpaupack area. Joan worked in a state office for 20 years and upon her retirement at age 70, she continued to stay active with her grandchildren and within the community. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tafton Fire Co. or the Hawley Library. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 8 at BVM Queen of Peace Church, Hawley at 10AM, Rev. Fr. Richard Beck, presiding. Those attending the Mass are asked to report directly to the church. Visitation will take place on Thursday, January 4, from 4-6pm at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church Street, Hawley. Interment to take place in BVM Queen of Peace cemetery at a future date. Arrangements have been entrusted to, and are under the care of Teeters' Funeral Chapel, Hawley, PA.
