Obituary of William Lawrence McGreevy

A devoted husband, loving father, and gloriously doting grandfather has slipped his earthly bonds and journeyed to his eternal home. William Lawrence McGreevy, age 71, of Wallenpaupack Lake Estates, Lake Ariel died Friday, December 29, 2023 after a brief illness. He is survived by his dedicated wife of 45 years, Angela Marie (Langone) McGreevy. Growing up in Jackson Heights,Queens, NY, Bill was born on April 8, 1952 to the late William Francis McGreevy and Rita Dolores (Kelty) McGreevy. A product of 16+ years of Catholic schooling specializing in economics, finance and earning his Certified Financial Planning credentials, Bill excelled in the banking world. He managed the Northern Jersey Home Mortgage business for JP Morgan Chase. Before the age of 60, in 2012, Bill retired to more fully enjoy his life with Angela. Bill and Angela raised their family in Edison, NJ while enjoying their current home in Wallenpaupack Lake Estates for the past 30 years. After retiring, they spent time between PA and their home in St. James Plantation in Southport, NC. Known for his quick wit and sarcastic sense of humor, Bill deeply loved his country and his family. While many could enjoy his mighty lion’s roar, those closest to him felt the tender heart of a lamb. Bill delighted in boating on the Lake, had a damn good golf game both in PA and NC, and as a certified NRA Instructor, enjoyed target practice at local firearm ranges and teaching others gun safety. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter: Anne McGreevy Kelly and her husband Mike of Norwalk, CT and their children Mia and Caleb; his son: Michael McGreevy of Easton, PA; his brother: Robert McGreevy and his wife Terry of Monroe, CT; and his cousin: Maureen Brokaw of Woodside, NY. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM on Saturday January 13th at St Mary's Roman Catholic Church, St. Mary's Church Rd., Ledgedale, with Father Stephen Bosomafi officiating. Interment will immediately follow in St Mary's Cemetery followed by a celebration of Bill’s wonderful life.
