James D. McDonald, age 97, of White Mills passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 20, 2024. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Helen (Weiss) McDonald, his son, Robert; two brothers, John and Robert; and a sister, Kathleen. Born June 18, 1926, in Jersey City, NJ, he was the son of the late John and Margaret Mary (Heffernan) McDonald. A World War II Army veteran, he was a postal worker for USPS until his retirement. James loved antique and classic cars of any kind, owning many different models over the years, but he was a particular fan of the Jaguars. He is survived by three sons: John McDonald and his wife, Veronica of Lindenhurst, NY, Donnie McDonald and his wife, Mary of Kitty Hawk, NC, and Dennis McDonald and his wife, Margaret of White Mills; brother-in-law, Robert Weiss of Waymart, PA; nine grandchildren: Michele Ann, Robert, Jr., Alyssa, John, Jr., Alison, Kyle, Colleen, Nina and Gabby; two great grandchildren: Callie and James Robert, with a third great grandchild on the way. Calling hours will be Saturday, February 24, from 1 to 5 PM at Teeters' Funeral Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. The funeral will follow at 5:00 PM at the funeral home. Private cremation will be held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel. Memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project at woundedwarriorproject.org.
