So so sorry to hear the loss of Joan Douglass. Joan and Al have been on the lake all of my years at the lake and I will miss her sorely. What a wonderful artist, mom, sister, wife and friend. Ross I extend my wishes to you as well as I know you wife is extremely sick presently, or I'm sure you would have been here for your parents. So sorry for your loss.

Please accept my deepest condolences, Mr. Douglass, your children, Missy and Chris, and your families. Mrs. Douglass was my mom’s best friend for many years, and it only just occurred to me that she and my mom probably did Columbia together! Mrs. Douglass was truly a point of light, and a talented painter. I will cherish even more the cards she printed of her work, and continue to be extremely selective sending them to loved ones. Too, Mr. Douglass, thank you from the bottom of my heart for challenging me to a game of tennis that day shortly after my dad passed, my mom had passed mere months before, and you saw me slamming balls into the backboard on Gumbletown Road. You reminded me by that game that there was still joy to be had in life, even in the worst of times. Please know you, too, have always been a point of light to others.

I have such fond memories of Joan. My very first year teaching, she was across the hall from me. Thatbwas her last year of teaching. She was my unofficial mentor. I will always treasure the memories we shared. Rest in peace Joan.
Love,
Janet Nolan
