Obituary of Ann D. Kiely

Please share a memory of Ann to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ann Daniel Kiely, age 89, of Tafton passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness. It is with heavy hearts and grateful spirits that her family celebrates the remarkable life of Ann. Born October 14, 1934, in Valley Stream, NY, she was the daughter of the late William and Rhona (Kennedy) Daniel. She earned her bachelor's degree in education from Hofstra University. She married Denis M. Kiely and together they enjoyed many wonderful years in Long Beach, NY. They owned and operated Camp Lenape/Blue Sky on Fairview Lake in Tafton, PA, for more than 30 years and made many meaningful memories and lasting friendships there. In addition, Ann was a Girl Scout leader with the Nassau County Girl Scouts and served her community for more than 25 years. Ann was a force of nature – a mover and a shaker who approached life with an infectious enthusiasm and a sense of adventure. Her spirit was as vibrant as her smile, and her zest for life touched the hearts of all who knew her. Whether she was facing new challenges, hitting the slopes on a ski trip, or simply dancing the night away, Ann embraced every moment with a sense of wonder and appreciation. But perhaps what truly set Ann apart was her extraordinary kindness and generosity. She had a heart as big as the sky and a spirit as bright as the sun. Throughout her life, Ann touched countless lives with her warmth, compassion, and unwavering support. She was a friend to all, a camp mom to many, a beacon of light in times of darkness, and a source of strength for those in need. As a mom, Ann was nothing short of extraordinary. Always there for her children with love and endless support, she appreciated them and took immense pride in their achievements and the joys of her grandchildren. Her love and dedication to her family were the cornerstones of a nurturing and warm-hearted presence. Ann is survived by three daughters: Donna A. Kiely of Tafton, Carol Mathews and her husband Rich of Galloway, NJ, and Tara Winagle and her husband Jim of Tafton; one son: Greg Kiely and his wife Vicki of Brooklyn, NY; five grandchildren: Sarah, Emma, Lily, Sean, and Elina; and two great grandchildren: Jade and Anya. She was preceded in death by two brothers that she cared deeply for, Peter and Billy Daniel. As we reflect on the life of our dear Ann, let's honor her memory in a way that truly matters. Let's take a moment to extend a gesture of kindness to someone in our lives. Whether it's a smile, a helping hand, or simply lending an ear, let's embrace the warmth and compassion that Ann so effortlessly embodied. In doing so, we not only honor her legacy but also perpetuate the love she shared with the world.
