Diane Bassani, age 70, of Hawley died Monday, May 20, 2024, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley in Wilkes Barre, PA. Mrs. Bassani was born November 29, 1953 in Paterson, NJ and was the daughter of the late Thomas A. Gilroy, Sr. and Lois (Rodoski) Gilroy. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a granddaughter, Brooke Marie Nutt, and a brother, Thomas A. (Skip) Gilroy. Diane was a great wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening and crafting. She should be remembered for her smile, easy going personality, and kindness. Her family will miss her dearly. She was employed as an advertising salesperson for Scranton Times-Tribune for over 20 years. She is survived by her husband of 52 years: Peter Bassani, two daughters: Priscilla A. Martinez and husband Fidel of Lebanon, PA and Jennifer Lynn Crombie and her husband Eric of Hawley, PA, and one son: James Peter Bassani and his fiancee Victoria Pritchyk of Scott Twp., PA; two brothers: Joseph Gilroy of Mexico and Charles (Chuck) Gilroy of West Milford, NJ, two grandsons, Greyson Peter Crombie and Nathan Pritchyk; one great grandson, Joshua Wyatt Nutt. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 11 am at the Hawley United Methodist Church, 315 Church St., Hawley, PA.
