Obituary of Kathryn E. Evans

Kathryn Elizabeth Evans, age 61, of Greentown passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Allied Skilled Nursing in Scranton. She was born October 5, 1962, in Rahway, NJ, to the late Ursula (Wozniak) Strojan and the late Rudolph Strojan. Kathy graduated from Carteret High School in 1980. Summers in her youth were spent at her family's cabin in Blooming Grove on Ursula Lane. She moved full-time to Pennsylvania in 1986 and had been a longtime Greentown resident. She married her spouse of 26 years, Thomas A. Evans, on September 27, 1997, in Lakeville, PA. Kathryn worked as a real estate settlement agent for many prominent local law firms. She was an EMT with the Hawley Ambulance from 1987 through 1997. She also volunteered with the Lakeville Fire Company and served as their treasurer. She was passionate about four-wheeling and reading. She is survived by her loving husband: Thomas A. Evans of Greentown; sister Christine Strojan of Tafton; brother: Steven Strojan of Old Bridge, NJ; mother-in-law: Susan Beahr of Hawley; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Ursula and Rudolph Strojan, and two brothers, Thomas and John Strojan. Family and friends are invited to Teeters' East Chapel, 507 Church St, Hawley, from 1 to 3:30 PM on Saturday, July 20, 2024, to reminisce and honor the life of Kathryn. She will be laid to rest at Green Gates Cemetery in Hawley at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the Evans family is asking that donations be made directly to the funeral home to assist with final expenses or through the GoFundMe page which can be found on Thomas Evans' Facebook page.
