Deacon Arthur Lee Jones, Sr., age 88, of Tobyhanna passed peacefully into the Arms of the Lord on Sunday, August 4, 2024 at home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret H. (Goodman) Jones.

Born January 31, 1936, in Cadwell, GA, he was the son of the late Dorothea (Jones) Arline. In the mid-1970's to early 1980s, he was contracted by Twilight Chemical Company located in Brooklyn, New York as the Owner/Operator of his trucking business. He worked as a mechanic for Hertz-Penske where he held welding certifications and gained extensive experience in the field. In 1994, he became one of the chauffeurs for Mr. James Limousine service, and this experience catapulted him to enter entrepreneurship boldly. In 1995, he established AJ Limousine Service, dedicating fifteen years of exemplary service. He had been a resident of Queens, NY and Gouldsboro, PA prior to moving to Tobyhanna in 2015.

He attended The Greater Faith Deliverance Temple in Allentown, PA.

He is survived by Daughters: Marva Sapp and her husband Dion of Walnutport, PA, Madie Della Jones-Williams and her husband James (deceased) of Dingman's Ferry, PA, and Tracy Lee Jones of Virginia; Steven Haughton (son-in law); Son: Arthur Lee Jones, Jr. and his wife Kimberly Jones of Tobyhanna, PA; Siblings: Wesley “Bobby” Arline, Algerine Thomas, Altamase “Penne” Arline, Pastsymae Arline, Geraldine Gardner, Essiemese Arline-Jones, Carolann Arline-Dawkins, Lester “Dap” Arline; 13 Grandchildren, 18 Great grandchildren, a host of nieces, great nieces, nephews and great-nephews, Godchildren, and Childhood Best friend, Jakie Gadson.

In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his daughter, Ann Marie Haughton of Bowie, MD; parents, Dorothea Jones Arline and Lester Arline; sisters, Maddie Arline and Helen Hamilton; and Grandson, Arnell Wayne Franklin Jr.

Calling hours will be Thursday, August 15, from 9 to 10 AM at The Greater Faith Deliverance Temple, 1117-1119 Liberty St, Allentown, PA. The funeral will be held at 10:00 AM with Pastor Dr. Robyn Simpson-Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Indian Orchard Cemetery, 998 Texas Palmyra Highway, Honesdale, PA.
