Obituary of Richard T. Ciccone

Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with very heavy hearts that his family mourns the passing of Richard T. (Dick) Ciccone. Richard died suddenly and peacefully in his home on August 18, 2024, at the age of 78. Rich was born July 15, 1946, in Honesdale, PA, to the late John Charles and Diane Ellen (Amorine) Ciccone. Most of the local community best remembers Dick through Ciccone Construction as well as his ten years of dedicated service to the Cherry Ridge Planning Commission. Rich and his four brothers faithfully operated their company which was founded by their uncle Joseph in 1963. By 1977 the business began to grow as the first stone was crushed at the quarry that same year. His persistent and tireless work ethic carried into retirement as he could often be found on a tractor or piece of equipment in the early morning hours of any given day. Rich had a deep devotion for animals and the outdoors. His day would always begin with a walk with Mickey, his beloved dog. He would then take care of his horses which have always been an enormous part of his everyday life. His passion for the outdoors was well known by everyone close to him. Maintaining and creating habitat for the wildlife on the family property was also an everyday adventure. Rich is survived by his beloved wife: Christine Borgna Ciccone; two daughters: Melissa Cosgrove and her husband Ricky and Rebecca Rivardo and her husband Justin; his four grandchildren: Dominick, Luella, Ava and Luca; four brothers and their wives: Jerry and Daryl, John and Rosemary, Eugene and Amy, and Gary and Dorothy Ciccone; and many dearly loved nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at BVM Queen of Peace RC Church, 314 Chestnut Ave., Hawley, with Rev. Richard W. Beck officiating. Donations in Richard's memory may be made to GAIT Equine Assisted Services, PO Box 69, Milford, PA 18337 or go to gaittrc.org.
