Gabrielle B. "Gay" Williams Dec. 9, 1941 – Oct. 12, 2024 In the words of Gay's husband, Brian Williams: We slept under the stars and listened to the wolves howl in northern British Columbia. We spent many evenings rafted up with the best of friends watching the moon rise over Gull Rock on Pierce Pond. I laughed as she smiled and said, "I just dunked my toes in the Rio Grande." The only music at our wedding in Otter Pond Cove was the tremolo, yodel, and wail of the Common Loon. She spent countless hours sitting on the banks of the Cains River at Six Mile waiting for me to hook an Atlantic salmon. Actually, I think she was waiting to see the cow moose coax her tiny calf across the river. She touched a manatee, skied Mount Blanc, and sailed the Caribbean. She listened to elk bugle and watched wild stone sheep fight. Seeing whales, puffins, and icebergs off the coast of Newfoundland, and cheering at the Calgary Stampede were fond memories. One day in Labrador an iceberg floated to shore and provided us with the purest ice to chill her Windsor and water; one of our favorite memories of all. She traveled near and far, most always with her dog, but always ended up coming back to her favorite place of all, a little lake we called home. So now it is time to say goodbye, as hard as it may be. I know some day that we will meet again and begin a new journey to a place we've never seen or been. Gay is survived by her husband, Brian; her son, William C. Gumble Jr. (Angie); her brother, T. Scot Brown; two sisters-in-law: Bettie Brown (Lorimer Brown dec.) and Deni Morgan; her brother-in-law, Dale Williams, and many nieces, nephews, friends, and "Cinder." The family would like to thank Traditional Health Care and Hospice, Wayne Memorial Hospital and Hospice, and Allied Hospice for their tremendous care and compassion. A special thanks to my cousin Nancy for giving Gay the will to get better after her first care with hospice. With the help of Christina, Amy, Colleen, Jess, Daniela, and others, Gay and I were able to create another four months of "memories." Memorials may be made to Guiding Eyes for the Blind, 611 Granite Springs Rd., Yorktown Heights, NY 10598 (guidingeyes.org) or the charity of the donor's choice.
